My jacket/generator won’t turn on. What should I do?

There are a few things that could be causing this.  Check to see if there is pressure in the generator.  If the pressure is reading 0 you could have a facility related (water or electrical) issue, or a component may be bad. Contact us or your local Consolidated authorized service provider to schedule a service visit.

My spore test (biological indicator) has failed. What happened?

There are several items that can cause a spore test to fail. The primary reason why a sport test fails (i.e. the biological indicator grows bacteria) is because the indicator was not exposed to a sufficient combination of temperature and time. Assuming the autoclave is set to the correct temperature and time, here are a few things to check: The sterilization time was not long enough.

The items in my autoclave are not drying and are coming out wet (i.e. wet packs)

A wet pack can occur for any number of reasons. There is no single place to look first. There are, however, certain operator behaviors and processes as well as mechanical failures within an autoclave that could lead to the moisture being retained inside an autoclave chamber and/or load. The steam generator will not pressurize.

Press the Generator On/Off button on the Main Menu. If you can hear the contactor clicking on and off then you know the problem is on the generator side (not the control side). Verify that the 3-phase power to the generator is in the ON position. Verify that the 3-phase circuit breaker has not tripped (may need to be reset). Verify that there is water in the generator (check the sight glass).
