Consolidated VP of Operations Earns Lean Silver Certification Written by: Jason Thompson BOSTON, MA, AUGUST 3, 2012 – Consolidated Sterilizer Systems today announced that Stephen Kent, Vice President of Operations, has been awarded a Lean Silver Certification by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME), American Society of Quality (ASQ), and the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing. Stephen was awarded this honor in April of 2012, having submitted a portfolio of work that underwent intense scrutiny by his engineering peers, as well as passing a required certification test. Kent joins an elite group of manufacturing individuals that focus their efforts on developing continuous improvement in process and procedure within the industrial environment. According to Arthur Trapotsis, CEO of Consolidated Sterilizers, “Steve’s Lean Silver certification exemplifies our commitment to our employees and our commitment to building the best laboratory sterilizers on the market. His process improvement initiatives increase the quality of our products and the productivity of our manufacturing process.” Lean Certifications are designed and awarded for an integrative viewpoint within key modules identified in the Lean Body of Knowledge – Cultural Enablers, Continuous Process Improvements, Consistent Lean Enterprise Culture, and Business Results. Certification holders are typically mentored throughout their career by a senior Lean practitioner to ensure adherence to industry best practices within the Lean framework. Earning the Lean Silver Certification recognizes an individual’s experience as a lean project leader on value stream transformations, but also includes a career component representing a progression in knowledge and responsibility. To maintain the certification, Kent will recertify every three years through continuing education, training and development. Consolidated Sterilizer Systems is an industry leader in development and manufacturing of gravity and pre-vacuum steam sterilizers with advanced programmable logic controllers configured for clinical, academic, life science, pharmaceutical and industrial applications. Consolidated products are 100% made in the U.S.A. and built with non-proprietary parts to assure local service efficiencies for maximum uptime. For information visit consteril.com.
