My jacket/generator won’t turn on. What should I do?

Most often a temperature sensor has failed and caused an alarm condition. Check the temperature readings in the Manager, Service, or Cycle select menus for abnormal temperature readings on the jacket or chamber probe. A failed probe would read a temperature that is obviously not correct for the typical laboratory setting (such as -77°F).

My spore test (biological indicator) has failed. What happened?

There are several items that can cause a spore test to fail. The primary reason why a sport test fails (i.e. the biological indicator grows bacteria) is because the indicator was not exposed to a sufficient combination of temperature and time. Assuming the autoclave is set to the correct temperature and time, here are a few things to check:

The sterilization time was not long enough.

The items in my autoclave are not drying and are coming out wet (i.e. wet packs)

A wet pack can occur for any number of reasons. There is no single place to look first. There are, however, certain operator behaviors and processes as well as mechanical failures within an autoclave that could lead to the moisture being retained inside an autoclave chamber and/or load. The steam generator will not pressurize.

Press the Generator On/Off button on the Main Menu. If you can hear the contactor clicking on and off then you know the problem is on the generator side (not the control side). Verify that the 3-phase power to the generator is in the ON position. Verify that the 3-phase circuit breaker has not tripped (may need to be reset). Verify that there is water in the generator (check the sight glass).

If you can hear the contactor clicking on and off then you know the problem is on the generator side (not the control side). Verify that the 3-phase power to the generator is in the On position.
